My Favorite Cookbooks
Starting a diet overhaul can be hard, but there are so many resources out there for you! I recommend starting with one resource and then branching out, I hope there is a book below that speaks to you and you decide to try. Scroll through them all, I saved the best for last!
Remember these dietary pillars when picking recipes:
5+ servings of vegetables a day
Protein every time you eat, but limit animal protein
Low grain (and possibly gluten free!) and low dairy (possibly dairy free)
Fruit is great, don’t over eat it, make sure you aren’t eating fruit instead of vegetables
Keep out those processed foods, sugars, and sugary drinks (you can do it!)
Paleo Cookbooks
I’m often recommending a paleo diet for patients who have insulin resistance, (like PCOS), diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Mediterranean Diet
This diet is the most studied fertility-promoting diet,. For women who have no insulin resistance, this is the best starting place to add healthy fats, antioxidants, and lots of fiber.
The 30-Minute Mediterranean Diet Cookbook: 101 Easy, Flavorful Recipes for Lifelong Health
For the Picky Eater
Deceptively Delicious and The Sneaky Chef
Not just for sneaking veggies into kids food, this is great for adults too! Mixing pureed vegetables into your already favorite recipes is great for getting some of those extra veggies in, without even noticing it!
Low FODMAP Diet
This diet is well studied and I have seen great experience with patients who have digestive issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
